Speed is the magnitude in a velocity. It is a scalar quantity so it does not have direction unlike velocity which is a vector quantity. Speed and velocity refers to the distance traveled by a moving object per unit of time. We calculate speed as follows:

Speed = distance / time = 84 miles / 2 hours
Speed = 42 miles per hour

A car traveling on the laconic parkway travels 84 miles in two hours  what is the cars speed a special type of rate in miles per hours?
