Best Answer: Fiction is anything that is not presente as facts or as true. It is usually written (or filmed or audio-taped) for entertainment - so novels, story books, fairy tales, most movies, etc. come under this category or genre of books. Characters in fiction may have resemblance to real characters, but are more based on the author's imagination and will not in such cases have the real names, places etc.
Non-fiction on the other hand are books, films, (even podcasts, videocasts). They include self-help books, autobiographies, biographies, most spiritual and religious books, documentary films, school text books in Physics, Chemistry, Math, and even English text books that analyse for example Alice in Wonderland (which in itself is fiction). Non-fiction is presented as facts about a particular topic or subject - but is not necessarily all true. For example, a biography (story of someone's life written) by another person could be true from the author's perspective, but someone else may disagree and say "such and such an event" in the book took place differently or did not take place.
Hope this helps you.
