Zbyszek is interested in learning about the history of the Holocaust because he wants to learn more about the past. He hopes to learn what the people endured and why certain people wouldn’t help the Jews. He wants to learn about the history of his family and their lives before the holocaust. In Bransk the people there are rude and challenge him when he asks them about why they didn’t help their neighbors and friends who were killed. I guess they either stood by their decisions as to how the Jews deserved that or that they felt really guilty and didn’t want to be reminded of their crimes.
