Since the beginning of the seventeenth century it was common that the ladies of the high nobility are responsible for founding institutions that are dedicated to instruct girls, who could be proper schools, the house, the convent or lay internees. But it is also important to emphasize that women lacked any kind of power in the social order, they were immersed in a broad patriarchal system, a society dominated by men.
