RAM (Ramdon Access Memory) is a temporary, short-term type of storage used by the cpu to store processed information for quick access. it is considered volatile memory because it is not persistent. when the computer is turned off, all the data that was stored here is lost. RAM is volatile, when the PC is turned off, the contents of RAM lost. That is the reason why it takes so long to shut down your computer, because the Operating System is writing any important information. More RAM usually means a faster computer.
