Respuesta :

Conflict is a major theme in Romeo and Juliet.  There are many conflicts between various characters. They can be classified in one of the four types: Man vs. Man, Man vs. Society, Man vs. Nature, or Man vs. Self.

For Romeo, as one of the main characters, here are two examples of conflict.
Friar Lawrence wrote an important letter to Romeo. Due to the plague, Romeo never received it. Plague is a nature event and beyond control of man. It illustrates a conflict of Man Vs Nature.  Even through the letter was important to Romeo (Man), the plague (Nature) prevented it from reaching him.

The other obvious example of conflict was Romeo fell in love with Juliet. The two families are constantly at odds with each other. As part of their respective families, they should hate each other as well. Families are part of the greater society. So when Romeo fell in love with Juliet, he (Man) became in conflict with his family (Society.)

Man Vs Man: conflict between Tybalt and Romeo. Romeo gate-crashed the Capulet party. Tybalt Capulet considered that action as a great dishonor to his family. He decided that Romeo had to pay. He commanded Romeo to 'turn and draw', taking part in a duel.

Man Vs Society: conflict between Romeo and the Montagues, his family. Romeo knew his family was at war with the Capulets. He should hate all memebers of the Capulets. Instead he fell in love with Juliet. His actions went against his family's wishes.
