how did Jackson's campaign for president progress?

Jackson campaigned throughout Adam's presidency but contained his attacks on his opponents to political decisions only.

It began when he lost the election of 1824 and continued with personal attacks on his opponents through the election of 1828

Respuesta :

It began when he lost the 1824 election. Jackson claimed that a "Corrupt Bargain" was struck that kept him from winning. Henry Clay had struck a bargain and in exchange for a Cabinet position he would back John Q Adams. Jackson took this as a personal attack and continued until his victory in 1828. This is one of the first elections to feature some major "mudslinging". It looked very much like the elections we see today.
