Irony is much more different than satire or paradox. Satire, is the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues. A paradox, is a statement that, despite apparently sound reasoning from true premises, leads to an apparently self-contradictory or logically unacceptable conclusion. 
Irony is 
a state of affairs or an event that seems deliberately contrary to what one expects and is often amusing as a result.
A few examples of irony are:
Rain on your wedding day
Meeting the man of your life, and then his beautiful wife.
A free ride, when you've already paid for the bus.
