The answer is false
ODP (Overdraft Protection) is a service that automatically transfers available funds from a linked account to cover purchases, prevent declined items and returned checks when you do not have enough money in your checking account.
If you don’t have funds in your linked account during the time of a transaction, the transaction or check is declined. The bank will go ahead and issue you a fee for issuing a bad check. ODP will always remain a courtesy service and the credit union will be in no obligation to cover your checks that overdraw your account
