In the United States, the Legislative Branch of government is focused on lawmaking. Consisting of the Congress, which is in turn composed of the Senate and House of Representatives, this branch of government is responsible for the creating and passage of Bills and Acts into law. Of course, as part of the nation's system of checks and balances, the Executive and Judicial branches also have input into the lawmaking process, with the ability to veto or overturn, respectively, prospective or existing law.
