He has a piece of wire that is 18 feet long .he cuts off 20% of the wire. Then he cuts the remaining pieces of wire into 6 equal pieces . What is the lengths of each pieces

When he cuts off 20% of the 18 feet long wire, he is left with 80% of it.
Therefore he now has a piece of wire which measures:
l= 0.8 * 18 = 14.4 feet.

He then divides this 14.4 feet wire into 6 equal pieces. Therefore:
Final length L = 14.4/6 = 2.4 feet.
