Women also typically have higher blood alcohol levels than men after consuming similar amounts of alcohol due to the fact that the average woman has less muscle and is shorter/ smaller in stature. Lastly, food helps alcohol absorb more slowly into the blood stream therefore giving you a lower bac. When you drink on an empty stomach the food "barrier" is no longer there and the drink is absorbed faster into your bloodstream.
