How many Tenths are in one half?

$\frac{1}{2} * \frac{5}{5} = \frac{5}{10}$


Now how many times does two tenths fit into five tenths?

$\frac{5}{10} - \frac{2}{10} = \frac{3}{10}$
$\frac{3}{10} - \frac{2}{10} = \frac{1}{10}$


Answer: Cassie can make 2 cakes and she will have (1/10) pound of sugar left over because (2/10) went into (1/2) twice.
