This passage can be compared with Hidesato's real life given the fact that he is known for being brave in real life.

Hidesato is known for being very courageous and also for his military strength in real life. Myth and legend has it that he killed the giant centipede.

When we compare this with the passage, we can see that it truly attests to the fact that he was brave. He was a warrior who had faith that he would kill the centipede. He indeed does so.
