During in vitro fertilization (IVF), eggs and sperm are brought together in a laboratory glass dish to allow the sperm to fertilize an egg.
Answer and Explanation:
In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a highly complex assisted reproduction treatment. It consists of the union of the ovule with a sperm in the laboratory –in vitro–, in order to obtain good quality embryos that, after transfer to the mother's womb, lead to pregnancy.
To carry out this procedure it is necessary to hormonally stimulate the patient in a controlled manner and obtain their eggs, which are then fertilized in vitro in the laboratory, where they are grown for a few days. One of these embryos is transferred back to the uterine cavity and the remaining cryopreserved for future use.
