After reading "American Political Culture", it could be said that the aspect of the contemporary immigration issue absent in the past was the distinction between legal and illegal immigration which is nowadays present not only to control but to help people.

The difference between legal and illegal migration is not taken into account and neither does it refer to the problems that this brings for the whole society. We can see that illegal immigration to the United States, also referred to as undocumented immigration, is the situation in which foreigners from the United States enter the country without the permission of the federal government (for example, a visa) in violation of immigration laws. of the United States, or also remaining in the country beyond the expiration date of the visa, also in contravention of the aforementioned norm.
