The atmosphere consists of five concentric layers. What is the order of these layers starting at the earth's surface?
The atmosphere consists of five concentric layers. The following is how they are ordered:
1) Troposphere. This is the layer the closest to the planet. It contains 80% mass of the atmosphere.
2) Thermosphere. This is the layer that is above mesosphere. It generally increases temperature within the altitude.
3) Mesosphere. This is the layer below thermosphere. The coolest temperature on Earth takes place in the mesosphere.
4) Stratosphere. This is second major strama strata in the air atmosphere. As the air in the stratosphere increases, gradually stratopause increases.
5) Exosphere. This is the layer that is the most furthest away from Earth.
