Saint Patrick's accomplishments in Ireland are known because Saint Patrick was taken from Great Britain, where he was from, over to Ireland as a slave, when he was a boy. After returning to Great Britain, he decided to go back to Ireland and settled in the northern and western parts of the country as a priest. He is known symbolically as being the birth of Christianity in Ireland. He is also said to have merged Irish culture with Christianity and this is why he is so revered today.
