Each day Ginna practices penalty kicks with her older brother as the goalie. Yesterday she made 18/24 of her penalty kicks. Today she plans on shooting 36 penalty kicks.

How many penalty kick would she have to make to successfully shoot an equivalent fraction as yesterday?

In simplest form, what fraction of her penalty kicks did she make yesterday?

Hi there!
When we want to find equivalent fractions, we try to get fractions to have the same denominator so we have easier numbers to work with first.

I'll work first to simplify the amount she did the first time: 18/24, 9/12, 3/4. So equivalent fractions will be fractions that equal 3/4, or .75.
This means that if she makes 75% of the shots like she did yesterday, how many will she make if she attempts 36 in total?

We can find 75% of 36 by multiplying the decimal .75 by the total 36 = 27.

27/36 is the equivalent fraction!

Hope this helps. :)
