The duration of a junior permit is for the period indicated on the original application but in all situations a junior permit will not be valid after the applicant’s 18th birthday.

Junior Permits are for Residents between the ages of 14 and under 18 who currently need to drive alone. Junior license holders can drive after hours for work or school purposes, but valid documentation is required. Junior Licensees may ride after hours under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian. The application must be signed by a parent or legal guardian and must include a signed logbook showing 50 hours of supervised driving time. In addition, teenagers must complete an accredited pre-licensing course and attach a certificate of completion to their application. Then, with proper identification and an application fee, the applicant can take the driver's license test and obtain a junior driver's license.
