Of the 40 deadliest natural disasters between 1970 and 2016, most occurred in Asia.

A variety of phenomena such as earthquakes, landslides, volcanic eruptions, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, snowstorms, tsunamis, hurricanes, wildfires, and pandemics all kill thousands of people each year and destroy billions of dollars of habitat and property. It is a destructive natural disaster.

Asia consists of 48 countries and 3 dependent territories. Common natural disasters include earthquakes, tsunamis, tropical storms, and landslides, but floods are the most common in Asia.

This paper considers the three main risk factors for natural disasters behind the increasing frequency of large-scale natural disasters. They are increased public exposure, increased public vulnerability, and increased climate-related hazards.
