They wanted to gain more land and take as there own land. They wanted to explore new lands for more food and more supplies that would help them grow more. Not only did they want to grow they wanted more power. They also believed that in the new world there was going to be gold and that they would come back with ship loads of gold and they wanted also peace with Spain and Indians in the new land to have friends to protect them from war or attacks.
