While some substances will show fluorescence when putting inside a microwave, there are some other substances that will react under other situations, for example, some of them may react to UV light or X-rays.
So she may find that the substance is fluorescent by putting it in the microwave, but if the substance does not react, this doesn't mean that the substance is not fluorescent.
Olivia wants to find out whether a substance will fluoresce, I do not agree with putting it in a microwave oven as it might cause an explosion.
