In order to find the mean of a dataset, we should add all the terms in the dataset & divide by the amount of numbers in the dataset.
Example: Let's find the mean of the following dataset:
3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9
Add:
3+5+6+7+8+9
38
Divide by 6 (because we have 6 terms in the dataset)
38/6
or
19/3
I know the mean is kind of weird, but I just made this dataset up...
What about the median? Just order the numbers from least to greatest.
The number in the middle is the median.
Now, if we have an even amount of numbers in the dataset, then guess what? We find the mean of the 2 numbers in the middle :)
