WHAT ARE GUARD CELLS:

  • Guard cells are structures that surrounds the stomata of plant cells and regulates the opening and closing of the stomata.

  • The stomata, which are located on the leaves of plants opens in order for the plant to perform gaseous exchange i.e. intake of CO2 and release of O2.
