1. Maine was allowed to enter as a free state. Missouri was able to enter the Union as a slave state.

2. As of the map, the souther-eastern bloc had the most slave states.

3. California is still not a state yet. It is still part of Spanish Territory, which stretch from the current southern border of Oregon downwards to present-day Texas.

4. Pro-slavery states would be outraged. Afterall, the larger legal citizen population in the North allowed for the Northern free states to hold more seats in the House of Representative (which gave states representatives based on the amount of population). If free states also dominated slave states in the Senate (which gave states equal representatives), then the free states would dominate the government, and would outlaw slavery quickly.
