I have called for personal sacrifice. I am assured of the willingness of almost all Americans to respond to that call. A part of the sacrifice means the payment of more money in taxes. What theme is shared by both documents? Sacrifice is the greatest act a citizen can make. Only certain citizens need to sacrifice for the greater good. Money should be collected from citizens only at certain times of the year. Sometimes, money needs to be collected from the people to pay for important national causes.
