logic, AND a meteor is basically a rock from space, which means if it hit earths surface something would go boom lol. So, the mesosphere causes insane amounts of friction causing the rock to break apart into smaller pieces. These small pieces still would cause a boom since they would technically be huge still so whilst the small rocks go through the mesosphere they break down even more until they become particles instead. :)
