$x=106^{\circ}$ because the central angle subtended in an arc is twice the size of the angle inscribed in the same arc

Part (b)

$y=180^{\circ}-53^{\circ}=\boxed{127^{\circ}}$ because opposite angles of a cyclic quadrilateral are supplementary.
