Brazil was officially “discovered” in 1500 when Pedro Álvares Cabral landed in Porto Seguro. The history of Brazil begins with indigenous people. Europeans arrived in Brazil at the opening of the 16th century. On September 7th, 1822, the country declared it’s independence from Portugal.
