The Southern Hemisphere experiences Winter during Northern Hemisphere's Summer. The reason why, is because the earth's axis is causing the North Pole to lean towards the sun.
It's the opposite in NH Winter and SH Summer. The South Pole is leaning towards the sun at this time.
