The city of Makkah was the birth place of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) and he grew up there. The Ka'abah was also located there; however, it had been filled with idols by the pagans of the time. Growing up in the city, the Holy Prophet earned his name among the people there and was trusted as an individual. This helped the propagation of his message when revelations were brought upon him. Moreover, Makkah was the first city to be exposed to Islam. Here, the Holy Prophet also had the protection of his uncle which also helped him spread the religion. Finally, the biggest initial adversaries of Islam were also based in Makkah; the likes of Abu Jahl. The city of Makkah was the initiation of Islam and the Muslims' character at the time of the hardships placed upon them in the city helped Islam spread more easy.
