Bias is something, which happens automatically, and it is triggered by the brain. It is influenced by background, cultural environment, and personal experience. Similarly, prejudice is an adverse judgment or opinion formed beforehand or without knowledge of the facts.

Under the influence of prejudice and biases, an individual cannot make the best or correct decision in the workplace. It also creates unintended exclusion in daily life. So, for a health care worker, it is important to recognize biases and prejudice.
The bias, which influences the measurement of a test performance, is of three kinds; namely, test referral bias, spectrum bias as well as test interpretation bias. Spectrum bias is seen when individuals with advanced disease and healthy volunteers are included in the population under study.
