The relationship between carbon atoms and boiling point is:

When carbon atoms' number is more, the boiling point is also higher. For the alkaline that have the formula [tex]\mathrm{C}_{\mathrm{n}} \mathrm{H}_{2 \mathrm{n}+2}[/tex], as the carbon atoms' number increases, the melting or boiling point gets increased.

The reason for this is that long chain molecules have higher boiling points. This is because these long chains get wrapped around and it is very difficult to separate them whereas in shorter chains, they have weak forces and it is easy to separate them.

Molecules that have a strong bonding between them have a greater inter molecular force and so cannot move easily. Hence the kinetic energy is also slow between these molecules. Such molecules have higher boiling point.
