To revise a piece of writing ins to edit it and rewrite parts to make it sound better. You might rewrite whole sentences or even take some out to make sure it sounds better.
Adding to what the other user said, in order to revise a piece you must alter the literature to be grammatically correct and punctually correct as well. Basically proof reading :)
