The Tiananmen Square massacre was an event happened in Beijing were the China’s Government attack the pro-democracy students’ protesters.
1. The west -> 1. sympathized with the student protestors
The students were protesting to gain democracy, they were against several reforms in the country, these rights they were fighting for, matches the Western thought and they denounced the government actions during the protest.
2. Deng Xiaoping -> 2. arrested anti-communists
Deng lead the martial law, speaking about the students he said that "Their goal is to establish a totally Western-dependent bourgeois republic", he as leader of the socialist system was against the anti-communists.

One of the methods used by the students to protest was led a hunger strike.
