The power of a democracy lies within in the people of the country. In a democracy, the people are able to decide what changes can be made and who will they choose to represent them as a leader, for example, a president. The United States of America is one example of a democracy.

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

The power of a democracy lies in the faculty of the citizens to elect their rulers and representatives. Democracy was the new system of government created by Solon and Cleisthenes, ancient Greek leaders, in which Athenian people had the right to elect their rulers. So in modern democracies, people decide who rules as well as they have the power to demand results.
