So 25% of the total candy is 3 lbs. peppermint

0.25x = 3

x = 3 / 0.25

x = 12

So there is a total of 12 lbs of candy

Hint: x being the total # of lbs of candy

If there is 12 lbs of candy, and 3 lbs of peppermint, then (12 - 3) = 9 lbs is white chocolate.
