[tex]x(x-b)-2k=L[/tex]
First add 2k to both sides
[tex]x(x-b)-2k+2k=L+2k[/tex]
[tex]x(x-b)=L+2k[/tex]
Then divide both sides by (x-b) and simplify
[tex]\frac{x(x-b)}{x-b}=\frac{L+2k}{x-b}[/tex]
[tex]x=\frac{L+2k}{x-b}[/tex]
