The second order : Stephanie, wade, Timothy - easy to solve with a calculator if not just put all fractions to a common denominator.

Rewriting the distances as mixed numbers with decimal fractions makes this task much easier.

Tim:  1 2/5 miles = 1.4 miles
Steph:  1 3/4 miles = 1.75 mi
Wade:  1 7/10 mi = 1.7 mi

Obviously Wade ran the greatest distance, and Tim the shortest.  Steph's in the middle.
