Draw a general diagram of a triglyceride. Describe the various types of biologically important lipids, their general structures, and their functions

Respuesta :

Triglyceride is composed of a glycerol and 3 fatty acids. The attached image is a drawing of a typical triglyceride. This is a form of storage of lipids in the body as fat cells. They are formed by converting excess calories in the blood and are released by hormones during hunger.

Example of another significant lipid is cholesterol. It is the most significant steroid in the body. It is a major component of some hormones. In excess, it forms plaques in blood vessels especially arteries. Another is phospholipids (a derivative of triglycerides) and a major component of cell membranes .

* The triglyceride diagram is attached below *

As you may already know, lipid organic fat and oil molecules, formed by carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. There are four types of lipids that are:

Triglyceride: Organic fat molecules formed by glycerol that is associated with three fatty acid molecules. When presented in the form of butter it is supported by saturated fatty acids (which promotes the solid formula at room temperature). In oil form, it is made up of unsaturated fatty acids (which guarantees the liquid form at room temperature. The main function of triglycerides is the energy reserve.

Cerideos: They do not have glycerol in their composition, but other types of alcohol. It comes in solid form, and can be found in both animal and vegetable products. It can even be found in ear wax. Its main function is to promote the impermeability of a specific location, preventing the loss of water and the entry of dirt in certain places.

Steroids: Steroids have a different chemical structure, since they are composed of four interconnected rings. It is a very fluid molecule and is represented by molecules such as cholesterol, in addition to being present in the composition of estrogen and testosterone. It has several functions the main ones are the metabolic control and the stimulation of sexual characteristics.

Phospholipids: They are molecules associated with phosphoric acid molecules, they have a hydrophilic head and a hydrophobic tail, making them excellent for their functions. The main function of this tomboy is to build cell membranes, preventing fluids that are outside the cell from harming it, but allowing the cell to interact
