In this passage the Reverend Parris is implying that Abigail has done something bad that got her fired from her job. He is saying that it doesn't make sense that no one has hired her since, and that Goody Proctor won't even go near the church because of Abigail. He is implying that it is Abigail's fault for something she had done.
