The Cold War had effects on several countries besides the US and USSR. The following are two examples:

1) Turkey- The country of Turkey received a significant amount of financial aid from the United States during the Cold War. The goal in giving this economic aid to Turkey was to make sure they did not fall under the control of the Soviet Union. The US gave this countries hundreds of millions of dollars through the Truman Doctrine and Marshall Plan. This ultimately helped the economy of Turkey significantly.

2) South Korea- The United States military aid to South Korea during the Korean War allowed them to remain free from the communist rule of North Korea. This also resulted in South Korea becoming a good ally and trading partner to the US. This relationship still remains strong to this day.
