The Bretton Woods Conference was a meeting of more than 700 representatives from 44 countries, gathering in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, in 1944. It created plans for an International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which became what is now called the World Bank. It also made plans for the International Monetary Fund.
