1. The Bolsheviks promised to distribute lands to the peasants and to give them authority within their rural communities. They would set up factories with improved working and living conditions.
2. The people were tired of the war and soldiers were deserting the army. They were hungry and unhappy. Lenin's promise of "Peace, bread and land" was very appealing and the party gained widespread support.
