Viruses require a living host to function; otherwise, they cannot survive. In addition, viruses are usually coated with a protein shell called a capsid. Viruses are also much smaller than bacteria. Viruses are also debated to be non-living as well; however, they still do contain DNA/RNA that they inject into a host.
