D. One camel driver’s story about olive trees and loss teaches Santiago that he has to let go of his fear to realize his true destiny.

Throughout Santiago's journey across the desert, he learns many things from listening to the camel drivers and observing how the caravan treks across the desert. Santiago learns arabic when he is working at the crystal shop. There is not an incident of wild and recklessness from the camel driver as this could have fatal consequences when crossing the desert. Santiago is more impressed with how the caravan moves and changes based on various signals from the desert and information they receive from other travelers.
