Demand for a new government instead of the communist control of Eastern Germany.
In 1989 East Germany began to protest the Soviet control of that country and the eastern side of Berlin. There were protests and demands to remove the Berlin Wall and allow for German unification under their own government. They didn't want more policies from the Soviet Union but rather an opportunity for their country to be whole again.
