They are numbers that can be divided by numbers evenly, other than itself.


Example:147
The number 147 is a composite number.
It has the factor pairs: 1 and 147, 3 and 49 or 7 and 21.
In other words, 147 has the factors: 1,3,7,21,49,147
Its prime factorization is 147= 3 x 7 x 7 or 3 x (7^2)
 
Therefore, all factors of 147 are 1,3,7,21,49,147
