Amino refers to the -NH2 group of atoms. Generally, organic acids have the carboxylic acid group -COOH. Thus, amino acids are compounds that have both the basic -NH2 & acidic -COOH groups.
Amino acids has two functional groups, amino-group (usually looks like NH2- and carboxyl group -COOH)
Amino-group has basic properties , and carboxyl group - is acidic group.
When amino group of one amino acid reacts with carboxyl group of another one,
the peptide bond is formed. Amino acids can connect to each other and form long chains. (peptides and proteins)
